Help for Australian medical practitioners to detect hearing loss

Latest studies show that one in six Australians suffer from hearing loss. Furthermore, they wait an average of seven years before doing anything about it. Bay Audio has recently developed a practical new tool called the Bay AudioCHEK Pro™ to make hearing detection accessible for all Australians.

Bay Audio is donating Bay AudioCHEK Pros™ to a number of GPs throughout Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales in order to help them detect the hearing problems their patients may be suffering from. Hearing loss is affects many people of all ages, and it’s well recognised that hearing loss gets worse as we age. Over half the population aged between 60 and 70 have hearing loss, this increases to more than 70 per cent of those over the age of 70, and 80 per cent of those over the age of 80. However, more than half of all hearing impaired persons are under the age of 65.

Hearing loss is also on the increase in younger people. One reason for this trend is the use of MP3 players, but more specifically, the duration and volume people are listening to them.

"Bay Audio is committed to helping GPs detect and treat hearing loss in patients. We believe that hearing loss is an important issue in Australia, and we are taking steps to help detect these problems in the early stages by providing GPs with a Bay AudioCHEK Pro™," says Eron Plumb, Bay Audio Chief Operating Officer.

The Bay AudioCHEK Pro™ is a simple, 40-second screening device that gives an objective measure in detecting hearing problems even in the early stages. Early intervention allows people to be thoroughly checked and assessed for hearing aids, preventing needless problems in the future, and ultimately providing your patients with a better quality of life.

Developed by audiologists, this revolutionary screener provides rapid and effective hearing screenings. It features superior acoustic shielding due to double ear enclosure that also allows binaural testing and no need to re-position the screening device. Bay AudioCHEK ProTM only takes 40 seconds to test both ears.

Bay Audio has a limited number of Bay AudioCHEK Pro™ screeners available for Australia GPs located in NSW, VIC and QLD, so if you’d like to enquire about one for your practice, please email audiochek@bayaudio.com.au
