Australians suffer from hearing loss - but most don't even know it
Bay Audio is committed to continually developing innovative concepts to provide Australians with better access to hearing services. Here are some of the most recent innovations developed by, and exclusive to, Bay Audio.
Self-test touch screen hearing screener
Bay Audio technicians, with the help of trained clinicians, recently designed a revolutionary world-first touch screen system that lets customers’ self-check hearing health. All you need to do is put on a pair of special headphones and follow a ‘virtual audiologist’ through a series of questions associated with sounds and tones.
This is a genuine breakthrough in hearing loss diagnosis and a first for hearing stores in Australia. The process is free, you don’t need to make an appointment, and it takes just five minutes to complete a hearing screening.
The results are printed out at the end of the screening to give you an indication of your hearing. If the results indicate hearing loss, we recommend making an appointment to see one of our clinicians for a comprehensive hearing test.
This is available in all Bay Audio stores.
Bay AudioCHEK ProTM
One in six Australians suffer from hearing loss and the latest studies also show that it takes an average of seven years for someone to do something about it. Untreatable hearing loss can cause further deterioration so it is important to do something about it right away. Bay Audio recently developed a practical new revolutionary device called Bay AudioCHEK Pro™, a device designed by hearing experts to make hearing detection accessible for Australians when they visit their GP.
Bay Audio are donating Bay AudioCHEK Pros™ to medical practitioners throughout Queensland and New South Wales in order to help them detect hearing loss in their patients.
The Bay AudioCHEK Pro™ is a simple, 40-second screening device that gives an objective measure in detecting hearing problems – even in the early stages of hearing loss. Early intervention allows people to be thoroughly checked and assessed for hearing loss, preventing needless problems in the future, and ultimately providing them a better quality of life.
"Bay Audio is committed to helping GPs throughout the country detect and treat hearing loss. We believe that hearing loss is an important issue in Australia, and we are taking steps to help detect these problems in the early stages by providing GPs with the Bay AudioCHEK Pro™," said Eron Plumb, Bay Audio Chief Operating Officer.
